One of my earliest memories is of a tiny brooch belonging to a friend—red glass set in worn metal. It wasn't fine jewelry, but to me, it felt like treasure. That specific weight—the sense of holding something permanent and meaningful—defined my path long before I ever learned to sculpt in silver.
I was born in Kazakhstan, raised between two opposing forces: the structural precision of a geologist mother and the fluid creativity of an artist father. My childhood was defined by this intersection—textbooks on mineral structures sitting alongside pencil sketchbooks.
This dual upbringing taught me that beauty requires both. Structure alone feels rigid; creativity without foundation doesn't last.
After graduating from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), I founded RyKier to explore this tension. I wanted to create jewelry that honors the weight of that early memory -pieces designed with an artist's vision and an engineer's precision.
THE NAME
The name "RyKier" combines the names of my sons, Ryan and Kieran. It is a daily reminder that we are not designing for the fast cycle of trends. We are building for the future—creating objects meant to be kept, worn, and carried forward.
BETWEEN TWO WORLDS
By Designer Marina Tyler
THE PHILOSOPHY: SOFT STRUCTURE
We define our aesthetic as Soft Structure: the engineering of hard materials to behave like fluid forms.
Metal is rigid by nature, but the body is not. Our design process focuses on breaking that rigidity—creating articulated links that move like fabric, or solid cuffs that curve to follow the exact contour of a wrist.
RyKier pieces are designed for the reality of daily life. We prioritize Aesthetic Function—sculptural forms that are designed to be worn, not just stored. It is a balance of opposites: substantial enough to define a look, but refined enough to feel like second nature.

THE PROCESS: DIGITAL MIND, HUMAN HAND
We reject the label "Handmade" because it implies improvisation. Our process is a deliberate fusion of advanced digital engineering and old-world mastery.
-
Digital Sculpting (Pittsburgh) — Every design begins as a digital sculpture in our Pittsburgh studio. This allows us to calculate weight, balance, and movement before the metal is ever poured. We engineer the physics of the piece here.
-
Master Casting (Bangkok) — We partner with a master workshop in Bangkok—a city globally renowned for its expertise in intricate silver and gold casting. We do not use hollow molds; we rely on their generations of casting knowledge to ensure every piece has the density and weight that luxury requires.
-
Artisan Finish — Finally, every piece is hand-finished to reveal the depth of the relief. This creates the signature high-contrast patina that defines the RyKier aesthetic.
