NECKLACE LENGTHS & LAYERING

THE STUDIO LENGTHS

Finding the correct chain length changes the entire mood of a piece. Whether you prefer a high architectural fit or a relaxed drape, use this guide to curate your stack.

THE COLLAR (15" – 16")

  • The Look: Sits high on the neck, resting just above the collarbone.

  • Best For: Delicate chains, high crew necks, or as the top layer of a stack.

  • Note: If you have a wider neck, we recommend starting with 18".

THE PRINCESS (18")

  • The Look: The industry standard. Sits comfortably on the collarbone.

  • Best For: Everyday pendants and V-neck tops. This is the safest choice for gifting.

THE MATINEE (20" – 22")

  • The Look: Sits just below the collarbone, resting on the sternum (chest bone).

  • Best For: Heavier pendants, wearing over turtlenecks, or the middle layer of a stack.

THE OPERA (24" – 30")

  • The Look: A dramatic, elongated length that sits low on the chest.

  • Best For: Statement medallions and elongating the torso.

THE ART OF LAYERING

Layering is about creating texture and preventing tangles. The secret is Vertical Spacing.

  • The 2-Inch Rule: To prevent chains from tangling and hiding each other, aim for at least 2 inches of difference between each necklace.

    • Classic Trio: 16" (Top) + 18" (Middle) + 22" (Bottom Pendant).

  • Weight Balance: Place the heaviest pendant at the bottom to anchor the look.

ADJUSTABLE CHAINS

Many RyKier necklaces feature adjustable extender chains (e.g., 16"–18"). Please check the specific "Details" section on each product page to see if your chosen piece offers this versatility.

VISUALIZING THE FIT

  • Tip: If you don't have a measuring tape, use a piece of string to measure the length on your own neck, then measure the string against a ruler.
